Weekly Roundup - Opening 10/31

Finally a good week! While there were not as many movies released this week, with only four opening on Friday, at least three of them look promising. RocknRolla looks to be a good entry in the slick English crime genre, and Splinter will be the talk of the horror town (at least in the towns that carry it in its limited release). And since it's Halloween weekend, a tokenly bad slasher flick had to be included in The Haunting of Molly Hartly.

Weekend Suggestion:

Zack and Miri Make a Porno is the movie to see this weekend. Splinter would be the choice for the Halloween weekend, but since it is not opening nationally, I can't select it. But hey, go laugh your butt off with Zack and Miri and try to have a good time anyway! And if you're desperate for a good scare, stay in and catch one of the classic horror movies on AMC, TCM, or the SciFi channel (I caught A Nightmare on Elm Street, The Thing, AND PiƱata: Survival Island on TV yesterday....ok, so they're not all great).

My Response: The Haunting of Molly Hartley is this year's token Halloween teen slasher flick. None of the major critical outlets have reviewed it, and I'm going to have to agree with them on this one: No need to review it. No need to see it.
