Weekly Roundup - Opening 10/3

Wow, there are a lot of movies opening this week! There really is something for everyone, with most of the options being at least somewhat promising.

The only movie that should not be considered, and a movie I wish I didn't have to spend time talking about, is Beverly Hills Chihuahua. If you want serious drama, check out Appaloosa. If you want to see something a little different, take a look at Blindness. And if you want to laugh like a Brit, you could definitely do worse than How To Lose Friends & Alienate People.

Weekend Suggestion:

This weekend is one of the harder ones to pick just one film to recommend, but since I have to select just one, I'm going with Religulous. It's a great time to go see a funny movie, especially with the religious ramifications that may affect the upcoming presidential election. Go see Bill Maher tear up some fanatical zealots ala Stephen Colbert and Jon Stewart. Have fun, and make sure not to take everything so seriously!

My Response: If you like Simon Pegg, and there are a growing number of people that do, this is a can't miss movie. He's a hilarious Brit that now has a few solid movies on his resume, starting with his breakout hit Shawn of the Dead. It's hard not to like Pegg's humor, so I'd recommend seeing this one in theaters.
